Immigration necessary to preserve the U.S.

BY JOSH PATTON
Opinions Editor

Immigration has become as big a hot button issue as abortion, gay rights, capital punishment and taxes.

For many the word ‘immigration’ brings to mind Mexico. Especially with the image we are receiving from the government and media.

The Border Patrol was recently here on campus working to recruit members to their cause of stopping illegal immigration at the United States-Mexico border. The image of Mexico representing immigration though could not be farther from the truth.

To the Editor:

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the folks who made the fund raiser for the John Dau Sudan Foundation such a huge success. All told, we raised $2100 to send to the foundation!

This project couldn’t have happened without his support and help.
I also would like to thank our department secretary, Heather Barker, who helped in numerous ways from hanging signs to collecting money and tickets. [more]
